The world, as it stands, is running on a lot of cheap energy.
Anger is the street food of the modern soul. It’s fast, it’s greasy, it’s everywhere, and it’s remarkably easy to get. Outrage is a high-octane, low-quality fuel. It’ll get you moving, sure. It’ll make you feel powerful for a minute. But it’s dirty. It leaves a soot on your heart and a bitterness in your mouth.
And the real tragedy? It’s a parasitic guest. It hitches a ride in your car, follows you through the barn doors, and sits right there in the saddle with you when you ride.
Before you know it, you’re not riding for the beauty of it anymore. You’re riding to vent. You’re riding with something to prove instead of something to share.
But here’s the thing they don’t tell you: Dressage is the ultimate rebellion.
In a world that demands you be loud, fast, and aggressively "right," choosing to go into that arena and be slow, quiet, and empathetic is a radical act of defiance. When the rest of the world is screaming "Us vs. Them," you are making the conscious, difficult choice to be about you and your horse.
Hate is a pathetic fuel for this work. It’s too heavy. You can’t bully a horse into true harmony any more than you can force a great meal to cook faster by yelling at the stove.
Real dressage, the kind that actually matters, has to be fueled by love.
Love is the only fuel that can create lightness.
It’s that split-second, high-stakes decision to soften your hand when every instinct you have is telling you to pull. It’s the strength it takes to be vulnerable. It’s the choice to walk away and end the session early because the horse gave you what he could, even if it wasn't what you wanted.
Choosing to be soft isn't a weakness. It’s a middle finger to a world that wants you to be hard.
Our horses don't give a crap about the news or the digital noise or the latest outrage. They only know the truth of your aids and the weight of your worry.
Don't let the world's cheap fuel run your engine.
Ride with love. Right now, it’s the rebellion the world actually needs.
